I am participating in the Dust to Table Exhibition of the Macarthur Ceramics Group. It is at the Campbelltown Art Centre and runs from April 9 to May 22.
It's lavender time here in Sydney. I hope this brightens up your day. This bud vase has a bit of sentimental value. I made it at the Wedgewood factory in Stoke on Trent during my honeymoon trip to Europe. It is Wedgewood Jasperware made at the Wedgewood visitor centre. There are no colourants in the clay to avoid skin reactions. I can't wait to be able to travel again.... In other news have been work in on a project lately which I will have some more to share on later.
Looks like the kiln worked a bit too well. There was only minimal carbon marking as it must have been too hot and burnt all the carbon away
Small scale pit firing test 'kiln' made from house bricks. I am really surprised it actually got over 900 Celcius buring old hardwood fence pailings. I reckon it could go much hotter buring old pallet wood. The reduction is strong with this one.
I know I haven't posted in a while. between the kids and my day job I haven't had much spare time. Sydney is back in COVID lockdown so hopefully I will have more time to make. Got the fireplace cranking tonight, I have forgotten how pleasent a open fire can be.
I am doing some research on silicon carbide and tin oxide. Read a bit more about it on https://glazy.org/posts/153367
